For your viewing horror. MLK day was good to me, fishing north shore Lake Tahoe. Mackinaw was 14 pounds, caught on a Lyman Lure on lead core line right at sunrise. Brown trout was eight pounds, caught at 10:00 a.m. shallow trolling a Sep’s sidekick and jumbo minnow injected with Pro-Cure.
Since this IS the one and only mackinaw board, here’s some more info. I’ve been catching some really good Tahoe lakers lately, trolling Lyman Lures, mostly the six-inch #80. Super-long leaders (100 to 200 feet of 12 pound Seaguar fluoro), lead core line and speeds averaging 2.5 to 3 MPH have helped me dial in the bite for big mackinaw in the 30 to 60 foot zone.
