WORLD JUNIOR RECORD CAUGHT USING LYMAN PLUG April 19th, 2010
I asked Ashley what she wanted for her birthday and and her reply filled my heart with joy. “I just want to go fishing with you, dad,” she replied. Then the concern flooded my mind once I heard her say “I want to catch a world record fish just like big sister Katie caught last year,” she added. This birthday gift just became huge task. Why didn’t she just ask me for an I pod or a trip to Disneyland? Realistically, it would have been easier for me to give her those things rather that catch a world record fish on a one day fishing trip. Big sister Katie had been fishing a few years before she caught her I.G.F.A Junior World Record and now Ashley wanted a world record fish, and on her birthday too! Wow!! We had our work cut out for us. After some research, I found that the best chances Ashley had for catching a Junior World Record fish was at Pyramid Lake, which is located within a half hour from our home in Nevada. When I fish Pyramid Lake, my “go to” lure is 81 size 4, but on this trip we ran a 135B. size 4. Within 500 yards of the boat ramp we caught Ashley's first fish of the day. We caught a total of twelve fish that day and the one fish that we will always remember is Ashley's 9lb I.G.F.A Junior World Record Cutthroat Trout. I just wanted to say thank you for making a great lure and for helping me make a birthday wish come true. The Stout Family
